More Than Just a Label

I’m Hallane, the founder of Darly Bear, and this journey started with my son, Z. In 2023, I was searching for boys’ hoodies—something cool, something different. Z wasn’t into superheroes, and while he loved Minecraft, he didn’t want it splashed across his chest with "gaming legend" written underneath. He knew exactly what he liked and was stubborn about it—just like so many kids out there.

At the same time, we were navigating a journey we didn’t expect. From the moment Z started school, I knew something wasn’t quite right. He was bright, creative, and full of ideas, yet he was quickly labelled—"the joker," "the daydreamer," "the fidget." Years of meetings, frustration, and unanswered questions finally led to a turning point: at age eight, Z was diagnosed with dyslexia. And suddenly, everything made sense.

Dyslexia: It’s Not just Letters and Numbers

Dyslexia isn’t just about mixing up ‘b’ and ‘d.’ It’s about the way the brain processes and remembers information—it’s why mornings are such a whirlwind, why he’d forgets to feed his fish, why he's learning in his own unique way. The diagnosis didn’t change Z, but it changed how we saw him. He wasn’t struggling—he was wired differently. And that difference was his strength.

Why Darly Bear…
